A unique collaboration between Lightseekers, Imaan Hakeem (18) and Yumi Goto’s Asian Women Photographer’s Showcase (AWPS). This project was made possible following a successful bid for The Ideastap Innovators Fund for young people aged between 16-22.
Imaan worked under the mentorship of Sunil Shah to select from an archive of award winning work produced by 45 Asian female photographers from across the globe. The project culminated in a group exhibition at the LCB Depot; followed by a showcase at The Curve Theatre; Leicester, as part of An Indian Summer Festival 2015.
Six photographers were featured in the exhibition: Shahria Sharmin (Bangladesh), Anahit Hayrapetyan (Armenia), Poulomi Basu (India), Htet T San (New York/Burma), Isabelle Eshraghi (Iran) and Gali Tibbon (Israel).
A panel discussion was also held between Poulomi Basu (Photographer, India), John Coster (Documentary Media Club, Leicester) and Armin Shooshstari (New Art Exchange, Nottingham).
